Earning XP
Your Dungeon Master awards XP after encounters and story milestones. Your current XP and the threshold for the next level are displayed on your character sheet in the XP & Level Up card.
The progress bar fills as you approach the next level. When you reach the threshold, a Level Up button appears.
The Level-Up Wizard
Clicking Level Up opens a guided 3-step process:
Step 1: HP Increase
Choose how to increase your maximum HP:
- Roll — roll your class's hit die (d6, d8, d10, or d12) and add your Constitution modifier
- Take Average — use the average roll (rounded up) plus your Constitution modifier
The wizard calculates and displays your new maximum HP.
Step 2: New Features
Review the class features you gain at your new level. These are automatically added to your character sheet. If your class grants an Ability Score Improvement at this level, you'll choose which scores to increase.
Step 3: Confirm
Review all changes and confirm. Your character's level, HP, features, and spell slots (if applicable) are all updated.
XP Thresholds
Lorekeeper uses the standard D&D 5e XP thresholds:
| Level | XP Required |
|---|---|
| 2 | 300 |
| 3 | 900 |
| 4 | 2,700 |
| 5 | 6,500 |
| 10 | 64,000 |
| 15 | 195,000 |
| 20 | 355,000 |
Multiclassing
If your character multiclasses, each class is tracked separately with its own level. The character sheet shows your combined level and each class's individual level.
