NPCs & Factions
Last updated Mar 18, 2026
Creating NPCs
- Go to NPCs from the main navigation
- Click New NPC
- Fill in the details:
- Name and Title (e.g., "Innkeeper", "Court Wizard")
- Species and Alignment
- Portrait — upload an image (auto-optimized)
- Description — what players see
- DM Notes — private notes only you can see
- Campaign — assign to a specific campaign
- Faction — assign to a faction
- Player Visible — toggle whether players can see this NPC in the portal
NPC Relationships
Track how NPCs connect to each other:
- On an NPC's page, find the Relationships section
- Add a relationship — select another NPC and describe the connection (ally, rival, family, employer, etc.)
- Relationships are shown on both NPCs' pages
Factions
Organize NPCs into groups:
- Go to your campaign → Factions
- Create factions like guilds, cults, kingdoms, or secret societies
- Assign NPCs to factions when creating or editing them
- Each faction page shows all its members
Player Visibility
By default, NPCs are not visible to players. Toggle Player Visible when you want players to see an NPC in their portal. This is useful for NPCs the party has met vs. those that are still hidden.
DM Notes are never visible to players, regardless of the visibility setting.
Quick NPC Lookup
When you're on any campaign page, the Quick Reference Panel (gear icon, bottom right) includes an NPCs tab. This lets you search and browse your campaign's NPCs without leaving the current page — especially useful during combat or session planning.
Each NPC card shows a compact summary with portrait, species, occupation, alignment, personality, and appearance. Click to expand, then click View full profile for the complete page.
